Laura Miller, PhD

Laura Miller, PhD, is the Associate Director of the Office of Academic Career Development (OACD) for the University of Pittsburgh Schools of the Health Sciences. She is responsible for the strategic planning, development, marketing, execution, and assessment of career development programs, workshops, and special events for biomedical scientists, clinical researchers, and trainees across all six schools of the health sciences to develop leaders and drive career excellence. In this role, she also collaborates with researchers, academic personnel, and thought leaders across campus to create innovative programs that keep the university at the cutting-edge. Dr. Miller graduated with a PhD in Medical Neurobiology from Indiana University School of Medicine, completed postdoctoral training in the field of behavioral neuroscience at Baylor University, earned the "Leading People in Organizations" professional credential from the Katz Graduate School of Business, and obtained specialized training in project management and teaching. Dr. Miller combines her passion, educational background, and experience to create transformative programming in support of the University of Pittsburgh’s role as a national leader in biomedical research.

Prior to joining the OACD, Dr. Miller was senior program manager for an NIH-funded, multi-institution resource center working with faculty from the University of Pittsburgh, Stanford University, the University of Texas, and Mayo Clinic, to support researchers across the country. She also managed a core research facility at the University of Pittsburgh, where she provided consulting services and helped researchers optimize their research outcomes. Additionally, she has over twenty years of experience promoting pre-K-16 science, technology, engineering and math through outreach ranging from local to the national level.
